THERE’S NO RODEO LIKE A SHARK RODEO!

If you’re looking for a new fishing challenge, the Texas Shark Rodeo is the thing for you! This ongoing tournament focuses on tagging and collecting data for shark conservation. Teams catch, take a photo, tag, and release the shark and report in.

The Shark Rodeo has partnered with Texas A&M Harte Research Institute since 2014 to collect data on sharks. This helps the Institute further shark research. Participants in the Rodeo receive tags and fin/clip vials to collect data. Then the Rodeo passes on the information to the Institute and posts angler stats online throughout the Rodeo period.

As part of the Rodeo, participants agree to “leave no trace” and leave the area better off than they found it where possible. For all the regulations and to set up your own team, check out their website here.
