Save the Date and Lasso Up Some Fish!

Fishing is a great way to relax and unwind, but sometimes you want to put your skills to the test. With spring and summer coming up, you’ll find numerous tournaments in the Coastal Bend to challenge your fishing prowess. No matter what your fishing style, you’re sure to find a tournament to accommodate you.

One of the largest ones is the State of Texas Angler’s Rodeo (“STAR”) Tournament. The STAR Tournament serves as the annual membership recruitment drive for CCA Texas, a non-profit marine conversation organization. Members get the chance to compete for over one million in prizes and scholarships, with events taking place across the Texas Gulf Coast.

You can choose from multiple categories, including Speckled Trout, Flounder, Sheepshead, Gafftop, Dorado, King Mackerel, and Ling (Cobia). You can also enter a special tagged Redfish Division. The tournament runs from May 25th through September 2nd, but you’ll want to get your registration in now. With everything from gift cards to new vehicles as prizes, you won’t want to miss this event!
