IT’S SUMMERTIME, AND THE FISHING’S GOOD!
With blue skies and sunny days, now’s the perfect time to get your boat out of storage and onto the water. The Gulf Coast has plenty of options for enjoying the natural resources of Texas, and if you’re a fisherman or woman, make sure to take advantage of one of the upcoming tournaments in the area.
Head out to Port Aransas July 6th-9th for the largest family fishing tournament on the Gulf Coast, the 82nd Annual Deep Sea Roundup, presented by Port Aransas Boatmen Inc. No matter your age or skill level, if you love to fish, then this is the tournament for you. The event draws over 800 contestants each year and features Offshore, Bay Surf, Fly Fishing, and Junior Division events. They haven’t forgotten the youngest fishers, either, with a free “Piggy Perch” contest. Registration includes three nights of open bar and dinners. For more information and registration, visit their website.
On July 6th-8th, the Matagorda Chamber of Commerce hosts the longest running offshore tournament on the Gulf Coast that’s strictly women only. Proceeds from the Matagorda Mermaid Fishing Tournament benefit the Latchkey Program and the Volunteer Fire Department. For more information, check out the details here.
