Fishing doesn’t stop because the weather gets colder. In fact, the Gulf Coast has fantastic fishing all winter long! Our milder temperatures make it easy to enjoy a day on the water. You’ll find a variety of fish in the area with a lot fewer anglers competing for a catch.

A lot of species head to inland waters to spawn this time of year. Others stay in the Coastal Bend year-round. There are a few things you can look for to improve your luck in catching beauties like redfish, flounder, speckled trout, and others. Fish like to burrow in sand or mud bottom areas and hide in sea grass. This is especially true when the weather starts to shift with a cold front. But when the temperature rises, they come out of those spots. If you look for those areas in advance, you can be waiting for them!

Check out the areas where shallow water transitions to deeper water if you want to find flounder. Redfish prefer to hang out in the shallow areas, so they’re easy to spot. If you’re looking for a larger fish, speckled trout is a good bet this time of year. Females are loading up on food now in preparation for spawning season, so your lures and bait are even more attractive than usual.

Whether you’re fishing this weekend or enjoying other activities, let Boat Stop Storage keep your boat safe and protected. For more information or to reserve your spot, check out our website here or call us at (361) 937- 2423.
