With the Gulf in Corpus Christi and Rockport’s backyards, many residents and visitors alike forget that we have a fantastic lake and state park nearby! Lake Corpus Christi State Park has a variety of activities for families, including several items of interest for anglers.
Lake Corpus Christi is an impressive 18,256 acres. It features largemouth and white bass; crappie; blue, channel and flathead catfish; and bluegill and redear sunfish. You can take advantage of the two boat ramps or two lighted fishing piers. One pier is 400 feet long and wheelchair accessible. There are even two fish-cleaning shelters for public use. Kayak and paddleboard rentals also give you some options if you don’t want to bring the boat out. You don’t need a license to fish from shore or pier in the state parks, so what are you waiting for?
Lake Corpus Christi State Park is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The entrance fee is $5.00, and children under 12 are free. You can get more information about the park here.
