FISHING FOR A GOOD CAUSE

The Coastal Bend has a lot of fishing tournaments throughout the year, but August 18th and 19th features one that benefits a great cause. The 3rd Annual Reels for Heels Fishing Tournament is presented by AEP Texas and benefits Dress for Success Corpus Christi.

Dress for Success helps disadvantaged women with workforce development and job training programs, as well as providing support, tools, and professional attire to help women enter or re-enter the workforce in a professional setting. More than 70% of the women they help are single mothers living at poverty levels, whose lives are transformed by the assistance they receive.

Friday night, the 18th, is the Captain’s Party from 5:30pm to 8:30pm with food, live music, various vendors, and a raffle. One person from each team must attend the Captain’s meeting, and team check-in, final registration, and side pot entries will happen at the party.

The tournament weigh-in and event will be held on Saturday the 19th, with fishing beginning at safe light and weigh-ins from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. All tournament events, including the Captain’s Party, will be held at Marker 37 Marina and Pier.
