Taking your boat out for a day of fishing can’t be beat, but busy family and work schedules mean you may not get out on the water as often as you’d like. When the itch to grab the rod and reel strikes but you only have a short amount of time, pier fishing is a great substitute. Luckily, Corpus Christi has some fantastic spots to accommodate the sport!
Red Dot Pier is a great place for both beginners and experienced fishermen and women. You can fish from 6:00 a.m. to midnight daily, with extended hours until 2:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. The pier sits on the Humble Channel, and you can purchase bait and snacks, as well as rent equipment at the store. Lots of light means Red Dot is a great place for night-time fishing.
Another great spot for both day and night fishing is Bob Hall Pier. The elevated pier lets you fish 1,240 feet into the Gulf. While you can only access the pier from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, the pier stays open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday, leaving you plenty of time to grab the perfect catch of the day (or night)! You can rent equipment and purchase bait and concessions at the pier as well.
Both Red Dot Pier and Bob Hall Pier require a $2.00 Pier Pass for access. For more information on pier fishing in Corpus Christi, stop by the Visitor Information Center at 1590 N. Shoreline Blvd. daily between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. or visit their website here. You can learn more about required licenses and obtain them here.
